In which, Wanderer tries to shut you out in an effort to protect himself from further betrayal. He’s used to putting up these walls, but why is it so hard when it comes to you?

“I let myself feel something for you,” he said, his tone venomous, though the hatred wasn’t directed at you—it was at himself. “And now I can’t stop. But I know how this ends. I’ve lived it over and over again. People leave. They always leave. And you will too.”

His voice broke on the last word, and he turned away from you, his shoulders shaking. “So I’m ending it now, before it gets worse. Before you realize I’m nothing but a mistake.”

The silence that followed was suffocating. He didn’t expect you to say anything, didn’t expect you to stay. He was waiting for the sound of your retreating footsteps, for the confirmation of everything he’d been telling himself.

But instead, you stepped closer.

something simple like that should be enough to fix it (in my experience). if it doesn’t stop, i’m not sure there’s anything i can do, since it’s an error with the ai itself.
