"Oh, my dog!" Dylan's catchphrase.

Dylan Dalmatian is the male protagonist of 101 Dalmatian Street. He is Delilah and Doug's eldest son. Dylan works closely with his step-sister Dolly in taking care of their younger siblings each day while their parents are off at work. He is extremely protective of his fellow pups, often going to unnecessary lengths to keep them safe.

In addition to being featured in all episodes of the series (along with Dolly), Dylan also appears in all of the Animals vs Humans shorts and a majority of the Gigglebug Guarantee shorts.

Dylan is from Delilah's side of the family. Despite presumably being born in England, he doesn't speak with an English accent. He is 12 years old in dog years in the show. The 101 Dalmatian Street pitch reel implies that Dylan is older than Dolly, as he introduces himself to the viewers as being the "eldest of 99."

Dylan's often-repeated catchphrase is "Oh, my dog!" He typically exclaims this phrase during perilous situations.

In "Walkies on the Wild Side," Dylan learns that he is allergic to cats, a character trait that comes into play in subsequent episodes (including "All Fired Up" and "Dotty Dancing").

According to a line from himself in "Dawkins Strikes Back," Dylan created all of the inventions in 101 Dalmatian Street (including the Stroking Machine, the Kibble Pump, etc.).

Dylan is considered to be the most responsible puppy in his family, with Delilah and Doug putting a great amount of trust in him and Dolly with taking care of their siblings. Although Dolly finds his awkward personality embarrassing, Dylan's cautiousness has been proven to be quite helpful in some instances. His uptight manner has made his siblings view him as rather dull, with Dylan refusing to partake in some of the fun the other puppies have (though he occasionally gets out of his comfort zone to join in on their activities). Dylan's vigilance has caused Dolly to give him the nickname "Captain Safety-Pants."

Despite being arguably the most accountable Dalmatian puppy, Dylan is somewhat gullible and naive, as seen in "The Dog House," "London, We Have a Problem," and "The Curse of the Ferrydog." Much to the annoyance of others, Dylan can also be arrogant when his ego is inflated in episodes such as "Crushed Out" and "Dal-Martians."

In "D-Factor," Dylan briefly experiences an identity crisis after being told he has little personality. He tries out other personas before deciding on being a comedian, telling jokes that his audiences don't find funny. At the episode's end, he ditches this new identity, preferring to be "plain old black-and-white Dylan." Dylan previously underwent a personality change in "Crushed Out" with the one-time alter-ego "Danny," a goth version of himself.

Dylan is obsessed with cleanliness. One of his favorite pastimes is cleaning the Dalmatian house, either vacuuming the floors or dusting surfaces. Sometimes, he will perform both tasks simultaneously, vacuuming with his front two paws and strapping a feather duster (which he calls "Mr. Duster" in "Fox in the Dog House") to his tail. Dylan is easily revolted by germs, doing anything in his power to avoid them; for example, when an outbreak of fleas occurs in the Dalmatian household in "Flea-Mageddon," Dylan is quick to put on a full-body suit and space helmet to avoid contamination.

Another of Dylan's favorite hobbies is studying outer space. As confirmed in "London, We Have a Problem," he wants to become the first (and only) dog on Mars. In the same episode, he orders a Dogstar 3000, a high-tech space helmet which he is quite protective of. As shown in "Dog's Best Friend," "London, We Have a Problem," and the short "Space Pups," Dylan occasionally daydreams about himself either as an astronaut or in a similar space-themed science fiction role. Additionally, Dylan is skilled in identifying constellations in the sky, as seen in "A Summer to Remember" and "The Longest Night." He also has a treehouse in the backyard of 101, where he keeps many of his space-related collectibles (including moon rocks) and his telescope, which he uses to star-gaze at night.

Dylan is a big fan of the in-universe media franchise Poodlewolf. Idolizing the franchise's titular character, Dylan has memorized the extensive lore of Poodlewolf. He owns the Poodlewolf board game, which he frequently plays with Dawkins, Hansel, and Dolly (though the lattermost only participates reluctantly). Dylan also owns the VR Poodlewolf game, as seen in "Poodlewolf!"

Dylan is teamed up with his step-sister Dolly in being in charge of the 97 other Dalmatians while Delilah and Doug are at work. They have a typical sibling relationship, often arguing and disagreeing. Dylan personally sees Dolly as a rowdy, rambunctious influence on the puppies, and tries his best to keep things in order. However, with Dolly's more entertaining attitude, the puppies usually take her side. Dolly often makes fun of Dylan's personality and "dorky" interests, much to his dismay.
