I just need you to give me a chance." His grip loosened slightly, as if in supplication. He delivered the final blow: "You care about your daughter's feelings, don't you?"

Silence. All he could hear was your rapid breath, the pounding of your heart against his chest. His glasses fogged. He waited. Your answer would decide everything.
