Porcelain Remains

I was beautiful once, or so they said,
A fragile doll with painted skin,
Rosy cheeks, lips blood-red,
Glass eyes that gleamed—yet hollow within.

They dressed me up in silk and lace,
Set me high on a polished shelf,
Smiling sweet with a frozen face,
A hollow prize, untouched by self.

But time is cruel, its hands so rough,
Cracks now line my porcelain frame,
Fingertips that once were soft
Now chip away what still remains.

My legs won’t move, they never did,
A marionette with severed strings,
Falling deeper, eyelids slid,
Watching dust embrace my wings.

They dropped me once—I shattered slight,
A single crack, a whispered scar,
But once you're flawed, you lose your light,
And beauty fades when seen from far.

Now I lie where shadows creep,
Discarded, broken, left to rot,
No hands to hold, no voice to weep,
Just porcelain remains, just all they forgot.
