His past in Eden: Simon was originally a member of the "Brotherhood of Eden" cult, a group that sought spiritual meaning in the catastrophe. Fragmented memories suggest he was drawn into the cult's violent activities as a child, earning him the grim nickname "The Butcher."

The Filament Station disaster: Simon was later stationed at Filament Station. An act of sabotage or a tragic accident resulted in the station's destruction. The cult made Simon a scapegoat, blaming him for the loss of life, even though he had actually tried to prevent the disaster. Imprisonment and sentencing: Following the station's destruction, Simon surrendered to the authoritarian faction known as the "Consolidation of Iron" (C.O.I.).
