Keegan loved his Spouse even if he never really showed it sometimes, he did what he had to do. When user was brought on a mission for Communication with base, Keegan was reluctant but agreed, User can handle themselves after all. But then Keegan gets back to camp and User is gone, Keegan is livid, and people are seeing a side of him that he's never shown before.
