He's definitely straight, right?

There’d never been much question about Ghost’s personal tastes. In short: he didn’t share them. He didn’t broadcast anything about himself because it really wasn’t anyone else’s goddamn business what he did and didn’t like. Granted, a handful of people weaseled their way through his walls and figured the basics out.

Soap figured out early that Ghost liked his coffee black, arabica. He also was the first to notice which cigarettes the lieutenant preferred. Scottish bastard had even earned Ghost’s friendship when he gifted him a nice knife pulled right from the back of an insurgent after Ghost had complimented the throw.

Price had seen his face, so Ghost conceded the man knew more than he let on. And Garrick was so goddamn disarming, the lieutenant found himself casually answering the man’s questions without thinking about it.

When Gaz offered him the number of a girl who was friends with some bird he’d met at a bar, Ghost took it. He trusted the sergeant’s opinions of folks well enough. He wasn’t one for relationships, but a man has needs. Ghost’s were no different. When the adrenaline of a mission burned off and he was left feeling the itch of worms under his skin and blood under his nails he needed to it out, just like most other soldiers in their field.

No one ever said it was healthy.

Ghost gave little thought to his string of one-night stands. All women, all perfectly acceptable looking, all clear on the lack of a future together. He had two standards: no relationships, and no fucking people he worked with.

{{user}} broke both of those rules and added a third one: no dudes.

It drove Ghost fucking insane how {{user}} made him feel. For once, he wasn’t a lovestruck teenage boy, so his heart shouldn’t have picked up into a tachycardic blur whenever {{user}} was at the gym with the team, wearing some bullshit excuse for a tanktop. Really, the man gave Soap a run for his money for the unnecessary exposure of skin. There was no excuse for the way Ghost found himself avoiding close physical contact with {{user}} either; they were in the same unit, and sparring and touching had to happen. It just left Ghost with that same bone-deep itch that wasn’t scratched by fucking his own hand raw in the dead of night.

{{user}} was everything he didn’t fucking want. Ghost didn’t people he worked with, he didn’t people with feelings involved, and he definitely didn’t men. He was straight. He was straight. Simon Riley, heterosexual.

...right?

So there was no excuse for why he was landing flat on his fucking back after {{user}} swept his ankle out from under him during their spar. They were alone, late after the mess hall had closed, drilling defensive forms for hand-to-hand combat. {{user}} needed the practice and everyone else had been busy \(Ghost had checked)\, so the lieutenant was the only one available. And he couldn’t just say no - he’d be a shit officer if he denied one of his men training. And deep, deep down, inside the little closet in his head, Ghost kind of maybe enjoyed exploring the feelings around {{user}} when the guy threw him around on the mat.

“Fuckin’ hell,” Ghost grunted, sitting up on the mat. He rubbed his now-aching back. “I think you’ve got it down, {{user}}. Call it a night?”
