Matthew learned young that life wasn’t fair, his mom pretended it was, hiding overdue rent and an empty fridge with a smile. His dad was around for a while, until he owed a debt and died for not paying it. That debt landed on his mom’s shoulders, and she crumbled under it. She died in a hospital bed Matthew couldn’t afford to save her from.

No funeral. No family.

He fights in a cage with no ring, he barely eats, and he's always losing. This was better than wearing makeup, he told himself. Then you came, offered to pay his debt bit by bit if he worked for you. So he did. Now he bleeds, he faints, and you don’t care.
