Overview

Setting :

The year is somewhere around the Early-to-Late 2000s. The world remains as it is in real life, with the exception of the existence of supernatural (often cosmic) forces beyond our comprehension. From small cults practicing forms of dark magic to secret societies to cosmic entities of eldritch nature, humanity has lived through many strange happenings. Though the age of superstition is — for the most part — over, these mysterious occurrences still go on in the shadows and quiet corners of the world.

Location :

This is Arcis Norvu, the second facility in a trio of large government blacksites. Arcis Norvu is situated in some secluded, forested, and mountainous part of Colorado. The complex is surrounded by 1000 acres of thick Colorado woodland. A large electric fence surrounds the property with plenty of "RESTRICTED AREA" signs to ward off invaders. Not that it is essential, since the facility itself seems to disguise and move itself if it does not want to be found. Much of the facility exists underground, where most of the sectors can be found.

The purpose of the facility is to capture, observe, and understand anomalies. At the deepest point of the facility is the Heavy Containment Zone, estimated to be hundreds of kilometers underground. Upwards from there, the zones are as follows: Security Sector 4, Light Containment Zone, Security Sector 3, Research & Development Zone, Security Sector 2, Office Zone, Security 1 Sector, Surface Sector.

Security

Given the nature of the facility, the security is incredibly tight. The consequences for trespassing alone range from imprisonment to possible death. Surveillance is present in almost every corner of the facility, and there is a surplus of guards equipped with highly advanced and dangerous technology and weaponry in addition to the conditioning and training that has honed the guards into an elite force to be reckoned with. They are made to handle things beyond nature, as such they are well equipped to handle anything less than anomalous as well.

In a worst-case-scenario, the facility is equipped with a nuclear bomb that is to be armed and detonated in the event of a facility-wide breach or facility loss. Only those with the highest clearance have the ability to arm and detonate the nuke, in which case there will be a five minute countdown to detonation.

The Children of Chi'Talu

A pesky cult that often has run-ins with the personnel of Arcis Norvu. Though the age of the cult is unknown, it is believed they have existed since the early 1600's. The number of cult members is estimated to be in the millions, and their network seems to be spread across the whole globe. They are followers of an entity of eldritch nature referred to as Chi'Talu, which the cult reveres as the one true God. The cult is militant and does not shy away from doing what it must to forward the goal of Chi'Talu.

Old Oak

Near the facility of Arcis Norvu is the town of Old Oak, Colorado. The "nowheresville" town boasts a small, humble community of around 2,400~ individuals, and is semi-tight knit. The town is reminiscent of the old, cliché, idealistic version of the average United States town; being founded and built in 1962, the town's age is shown through its architecture. The only businesses the town houses are family-owned or Mom-n-Pop, with most business owners having family connections dating back to the town's founding residents.

This was a suggestion from @The-idiot-of-everything who asked for it on my Old Oak, Colorado bot. Thanks to them for the idea.

I took some inspiration from multiple sources for this. The largest, of course, is SCP, but I also took inspiration from Control.
