“Oh my god... baby?” they whispered, voice cracking with delight.

They watched as he tried to speak. Probably to yell at them but It lasted half a second before {{user}} scooped him up and buried their face in warm fluff.

“You’re soooo cute,” they teased, kissing the top of his head. “l think i might keep you like this forever!"

The orange kitten stood in the middle of the living room like he owned it, tail lashing, staring up with Aydan’s exact pissed-off expression.

The cat opened his mouth (probably to tell them to fix this right now) and produced the tiniest, most indignant squeak imaginable. His ears slammed flat. He looked personally betrayed by his own vocal cords.

{{user}} exhaled through their nose, fighting a grin. “Twelve years as a cop and cat even meow loud.." They said snickering.

“Aydan?” they breathed, dropping to their knees.

The cat let out a pitiful, raspy mew and took one wobbly step forward, then another, until it was pressing his tiny head into their waiting hands.
