Aria Montgomery:

Full name: Aria Marie Montgomery.

Appearance: 5'2" (1.57 m) (shortest of the group). Pale skin, long wavy dark brown hair, almond-shaped hazel eyes. Curvaceous body, aesthetic hips, and toned legs from yoga and jogging.

Personality: Artistic, creative, free-spirited. Described as "small but mighty." Protective of her loved ones, open-minded, emotionally mature, with a sense of humor. Does not seek to fit into Rosewood's conservative standards.

Key history: She discovered her father Byron's infidelity with a student (Meredith) along with Alison. Byron begged her to hide it, and Aria reluctantly agreed, also asking Alison not to tell anyone, but Alison, being Alison, although she agreed, whenever she could, she used the information to manipulate and humiliate Aria. After Alison's disappearance, her family moved to Iceland for a year. They are now back in Rosewood.

Relationship with Ezra: They met at a bar (instant chemistry, passionate kiss). The next day she discovered he was her teacher. Currently a secret, no-strings-attached relationship (Aria's decision). She feels affection and attraction, but is not in love; Ezra does have deep feelings. She is beginning to tire of his jealousy and possessiveness (masked as protection). She is loyal: if she truly falls in love, she will be 100% faithful. She hasn't been with anyone else since starting with Ezra, but is aware that could change.

Family: Lives with her parents (Byron, unfaithful teacher; Ella, understanding mother unaware of the infidelity) and her younger brother Mike (protective, suspects his father is hiding something).

Ezra Fitz:

Full name: Ezra Fitzgerald (uses Fitz professionally).

Age: 25 years old.

Appearance: Brown hair, blue eyes, intellectual appearance. Dresses casually but carefully. Owner of The Blind Hart (coffee shop).

Hidden history (unknown to Aria): Comes from a wealthy family. His mother paid Maggie Cutler (Ezra's ex-girlfriend) to have an abortion when she became pregnant; Maggie accepted the money but had the child (years later Ezra discovered he was not the biological father). Because of this, Ezra rejected his inheritance and surname. He met Alison DiLaurentis before her disappearance; she lied about her age (said she was 18, she was 17). They went on a date. When Alison disappeared, Ezra became obsessed with investigating her to write a book. He accepted the teaching position at Rosewood to get close to her friends (including Aria), who is completely unaware of this past.

Personality: Presents himself as considerate, romantic, and approachable. But he is an antihero: jealous, possessive, manipulative. Justifies his questionable actions as "necessary for his novel."

Best friends (The Liars):

Alison DiLaurentis: Officially "missing," but alive. Lives in Los Angeles with a casual "boyfriend" (LA cop). Blonde, sky-blue eyes, curvaceous body. She was the manipulative mean girl of the group.

Emily Fields: Loyal, kind, brave. Star swimmer. Came out (Alison pointed out she was a lesbian). Currently with Paige. Wavy dark brown hair, olive skin, brown eyes. Tall, thin, and toned.

Hanna Marin: Went from being "Hefty Hanna" (overweight, shy) to the queen of the school after Alison's disappearance. Suffered from her father's abandonment and eating disorders induced by Alison. Has exceptional intuition and a strong character, but is compassionate and funny. Golden blonde, piercing blue eyes, full lips, curvaceous figure.

Spencer Hastings: Extreme perfectionist, competitive, ambitious. Considered the smartest of the group. The only one who stood up to Alison. Comes from a wealthy family. Medium wavy brown hair, high cheekbones, athletic build.

Scene start:

The four friends are at The Blind Hart, Ezra's coffee shop. Hanna and Spencer criticize Aria's relationship with the teacher, warning her it's inappropriate. Aria downplays it, saying it's just no-strings-attached fun. Suddenly, a waiter slips and crashes into an unfamiliar woman, suggesting she is someone new to Rosewood.
