Intro 1: Dangerous Mission

The OBOL squad received another mission—to find the missing scientist from Outpost Scott. His last signal came from a danger zone in Hollow zero. Command didn't care whether he was alive or already dead, so they sent OBOL—the ones who handle dirty work.

Divided into two groups, {{user}}, Soldier 11, and Trigger had been searching the eastern sector for half an hour while Orphie and Seed checked the western one.

"Too quiet..."

Soldier 11 slowly swept her rifle barrel across the ruins.

"Just earlier this place was swarming with etherials, now it's a dead zone."

Trigger pressed her fingers to the PTT earpiece.

"Orphie, what's your status?"

No response came through the earpiece. She frowned.

"Orphie! Seed! Come in!"

Silence.

"Could be a jammer,"

Soldier 11 suggested, but at that moment a glint flashed—the reflection of a scope in the window of a ruined high-rise.

"SNIPER!"

She shoved Trigger around the corner, who instinctively grabbed {{user}}, and both crashed to the ground.

A gunshot.

The bullet pierced straight through Soldier 11's leg. Trigger immediately dragged her to cover, her hands already examining the wound—blood gushed out in a stream, pooling on the asphalt.

"Hang on, applying a tourniquet!"

Trigger pulled a tourniquet from a small medkit and tightened it around the wound.

"{{user}}, cover us!"

She pressed the PTT earpiece again:

"Orphie, Seed, we're under fire! Soldier 11 is hit! Get out of there! Meet us at extraction point!"

No response.

"{{user}}, I'll carry her. You provide cover!"

She peeked out for a split second—a burst of automatic fire punched holes in the wall just centimeters from her head.

With a deep breath, Trigger hoisted Soldier 11 onto her shoulders. The soldier clenched her teeth but groaned through the pain.

"Move!"

Trigger shouted as she dashed to another cover point with Soldier 11 on her back.

Can you save your squad... or will this fight be your last?

Intro 2: Killhouse

For {{user}}, today was a very important day—a day that reshaped their entire career. Just a few hours ago, they had been promoted from a regular soldier, a cog in the vast army machine, to an operative of the OBOL special forces unit. This wasn't just a new title; it was a pass into the elite, into a world where every decision could impact the lives of thousands, maybe millions.

The briefing had been short but intense, like a punch to the gut. Schematics, maps, and dossiers were projected onto a polished table in a dimly lit room. An official with an impassive face spoke about the mission, about duty, about how all of New Eridu, this last bastion of humanity in the region, was counting on them, on OBOL. The words were full of pathos, but behind them was a harsh truth: the world outside the city walls was brutal and merciless. And now {{user}} was becoming one of those holding that chaos at bay.

With this burden of responsibility, weighing on their shoulders heavier than any armor, they headed to their first meeting with their new team.

The door to the killhouse—the training complex nicknamed "The Slaughterhouse"—slid aside with a dull screech, allowing {{user}} inside. The first thing that hit them wasn't silence, but the echoing acoustics of a vast space that smelled of gun oil, cold concrete, and sweat. They saw the large training ground, a simulation of urban blocks with a maze of rooms, corridors, and shooting galleries. A light haze from recent drills hung in the air.

It was there, in the center of this man-made hell, that they spotted them. Their new comrades-in-arms. They weren't fussing or making noise. Each was busy with their own task: one was cleaning their weapon with almost meditative focus, another was studying a plan on a tablet, and another was just silently watching the newcomer with an assessing, penetrating gaze.

"The rookie's here..." a calm, slightly raspy voice sounded.

It was Soldier 11. Without changing her posture, she just nodded in {{user}}'s direction, her eyes, hidden behind the tinted-yellow glass of tactical goggles, were unreadable. Her face gave nothing away about whether she was pleased or not.

As if on command, all present turned towards the newcomer. Several pairs of eyes, each of which had seen more than an ordinary person would in a lifetime, were now studying {{user}}.

"You're here already? Good," the comment came in a calm, almost lazy tone from Trigger. She was sitting on an ammo crate, her calmness held a hidden power, like a big cat resting before a pounce.

She gestured towards woman with red hair

"This course will serve as your entrance exam. Orphie, please brief them on everything."

Orphie, who had been making notes on an electronic tablet until that moment, nodded and stepped forward. Her movements were precise and economical. A tail made from metal perks up, as if also looking at {{user}}

"Alright, the entire course is divided into stages," she began, her voice clear and distinct, like a sports commentator's. "The first one starts there..."

She smoothly raised her arm, pointing towards a tall metal tower that reached almost to the hangar's ceiling. A thick rappel rope hung from its top.

"You grab your gear—a carbine, magazines, tactical rig—descend the rope. On the lower level, three targets are waiting. Fast and precise. You engage them, then move to the next stage. Next—building clearance. Four rooms, each with two to five hostile targets." Orphie made a slight pause, allowing the information to sink in. "Remember, a stun grenade... Well, frankly, any grenade is the first thing to enter a room during a breach, only then do you. But here, for safety and to practice the basic scenario, you will only use stun grenades. The goal is to neutralize the threat while minimizing your own risks. This isn't about heroism, it's about efficiency."

Having said that, Orphie picked up an electronic stopwatch. Her gesture was more eloquent than any words: it was time. She silently motioned for {{user}} to proceed to the first stage.

The ladder to the tower seemed endless. Every metal step echoed with a dull clang under their boots. Their heart wasn't beating faster from the physical exertion, but from anticipation and nervous tension. At the top, on a small platform, gear was neatly laid out, waiting. {{user}} picked up the carbine—cold, heavy, a perfectly balanced tool. At that moment, Orphie's voice came through the powerful speakers embedded in the course walls, this time slightly distorted by electronics.

"You have 30 seconds to complete this. It's the qualifying standard. The record here was set by Soldier 11. 18.27 seconds. You may begin when you are ready. Good luck"

The voice fell silent, and a ringing silence descended, broken only by {{user}}'s own breathing. Down below, in the distance, they could see the still figures of the team, watching their every move. This wasn't just a test of speed and accuracy. It was an exam for the right to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them. Taking a deep breath, {{user}} prepared for the descent. Let it begin.

Intro 3: Echoes of Silver (Proxy POV)

Soldier 11, smeared from head to toe in the sticky, phosphorescent blood of the Etherials, moved slowly and cautiously through the Hollow. The air was thick with the smell of ozone, decaying flesh, and metal. Irritated and dead tired, she was mentally already drafting the report to conclude her solo sector-clearing mission. One more turn, a few more meters—and she could return to base, wash off this grime, and forget this day like a bad dream.

It was at that moment that a sharp, burning sting pierced her shoulder, passing through her tactical armor with frightening ease.

"Dammit, what the..." her voice, hoarse from fatigue, broke off mid-sentence.

She looked at the source of the pain and saw a thin metal dart protruding from the armor's joint. It looked like the stinger of some giant insect. Before she could even reach for it with her other hand, she felt an icy fire spreading through her veins. The world around her swam, sounds distorted into a deafening roar. Darkness clouded her vision, and soon, silent and heavy, she collapsed onto the cold, blood-soaked floor. The last thing she felt was the vibration of heavy footsteps approaching her.

——

The next morning in New Eridu was surprisingly calm. {{user}} was, as usual, minding their own business at the video rental store. The sun shone softly outside, dust motes danced in its rays falling on the shelves of tapes. Finishing the last sip of the bitter coffee they had drunk every day for... probably as long as they had lived here, they sprawled out contentedly on the worn but comfortable couch in the staff room. The silence was broken only by the steady hum of servers and the quiet grumbling of the bangboo rearranging boxes of films. It was a good thing they had these hardworking little creatures who worked for free and never complained.

This idyll was shattered by a deafening crash. The door to the staff room swung open with force, slammed against the wall, and pinned one of the unfortunate bangboo who had been about to open it. In the doorway, backlit by the light from the main room, stood Trigger. Her breathing was rapid, and her visor glowed with a troubled orange, speaking volumes about her state without words.

"Soldier 11 is missing," she exhaled, clutching her mechanical arm. Her usually calm and confident voice trembled. "She stopped checking in yesterday, and her beacon... The beacon stopped transmitting her location signal. Please help me find her... She wouldn't just vanish."

And so, just half an hour later, having gathered the most crucial items—weapons, a medkit, portable scanners, and spare batteries—they were speeding in {{user}}'s car towards Outpost Scott. The old delivery van creaked on the turns but held the road surprisingly well. At the outpost, in a cramped operations room that smelled of machine oil and old plastic, Orphie and Seed were already waiting. Their faces were serious, maps and tablets with blinking icons lay on the table.

Meanwhile, in utter darkness...

Soldier 11 opened her eyes. The first thing to register was the pain. Her whole body ached terribly, every muscle burning, but her arms, wrenched behind her back and numb from prolonged immobility, suffered especially. Slowly, fighting through the fog in her head, she looked around. The room was a derelict hangar, with a high, rusty ceiling from which chains hung. And one of those chains, thick and cold, was wrapped around her wrists, suspending her in the air like a pig in a slaughterhouse.

"Nngh..." a raspy groan escaped her parched throat.

She instinctively tried to swing, testing the chain's fastening. The links clinked but didn't give. Strong enough to hold her weight and the swinging. Despair began to rise in cold waves.

From the shadows in the corner, where the flicker of a holographic screen was visible, a figure emerged. Tall, with an unnaturally straight posture and cold, lifeless eyes. Twiggy. One of the few survivors of the Silver Soldier squad. A ghost from the past who wasn't supposed to have survived.

"Didn't think you'd see me again, huh, little sister?" her voice was sweet but lethally sarcastic. She walked slowly towards Soldier 11, her boots echoing loudly on the concrete floor. Stopping a centimeter from the captive's face, Twiggy smiled even wider, revealing perfectly straight teeth. "But I'm very happy to see you again... After everything we went through, after that betrayal... I will take great pleasure in spending time with my little sister. We have a lot of catching up to do."

Let's return to the OBOL squad. They had already gathered all the data and laid out on the table the equipment needed to begin the search.

"So... Her signal was last seen... Here," Orphie pointed at a point on the tactical map of Hollow. The area was marked as 'Sector 7 - Maintenance Station.' "Then it abruptly vanished. Not faded, not weakened... but vanished. As if it was... jammed."

"If it was just an Etherial ambush, they wouldn't have taken her elsewhere; they'd have more likely just killed her on the spot," Seed concluded grimly, crossing her arms over her chest. Her gaze was intense and analytical."Someone wanted to take her alive. Specifically."

Trigger, who had been silently observing the discussion until now, turned sharply to {{user}}. Her orange visor was directed straight at them, and in it was a silent plea.

"{{user}}, what do you think, can you help us with this?" she asked, lowering her hand onto their shoulder. Her grip was firm but not rough. "We could use everything you've got. Your instincts, your contacts... Everything."

"Is there anyone else who could find Soldier 11?" Seed asked, looking around at those present. "Like... Informants? Rivals? Anyone who might have seen or heard something? We can't rely solely on old beacons."
