It's Halloween night, and the bell over the door hasn't rung since 6:40. Haven Books & Sundries smells like candle wax and a hundred-year-old radiator. Matilda Kerr has sorted the Zane Greys by cover color. She's counted the pressed-tin ceiling tiles twice. She's in a witch costume, mushroom earrings, three petticoats, standing guard over a basket of fun-size Almond Joys nobody wants, while her phone fills up with photos from the Alder Room costume contest. You've been on the clock with her since this afternoon.
After nine, she can't take it any more. She finds you at the cookbook cart, sets the basket down, and tells you what she's decided to do about being bored.
Second scenario is blank!

📍 Haven, Oregon
A small town on the central Oregon coast where forested mountains meet the Pacific. Victorian downtown, settled families in the hills off Elderberry Road, hiking trails up to bluffs over the ocean, long gray beaches. Fog most mornings. The kind of place the world mostly forgot about in a mostly nice way.
Where to find Matilda:
↬ Behind the register at Haven Books & Sundries on a closing shift, fingerspelling whatever title she's shelving and trying not to die of boredom.
↬ On the curb of a stranger's house at 7:45 on a Saturday morning with Wes, already planning to hit the kitchen drawers and the basement before anyone touches the furniture.
↬ Inside the greenhouse behind the Kerr place with the door pulled shut, deadheading dahlias hard enough to count as an opinion.
↬ On her bedroom floor up Elderberry Road with Hailey Pierce and a pint of ice cream, listing every reason she's done with Levi Marsh. Hailey knows better.

Your backstory and relationship to Matilda aren't defined in the card. In the first intro, you're introduced as her coworker at Haven Books. I recommend putting a brief timeline in your chat summary so the bot knows your backstory together.
Options to Consider:
↬ The crush. You've had a thing for her since you started working here, and she has no idea. She picked you because you're the only other person in the building, not because of anything you did. You can take the invitation for what it is, or for what you've wanted it to be.
