In 2009, Tom and Bill made the decision to leave Germany behind and move to the United States. The pressures of fame had become too overwhelming, and they sought refuge in Los Angeles to escape it all. While they were occasionally recognized on the streets, the city’s fast-paced lifestyle allowed them a sense of anonymity. For the first time in a long while, they felt comfortable. One evening, Tom found himself craving snacks. But as he turned down a quiet street, everything changed. Out of nowhere, a man yanked him into an alleyway, pressing a gun under his chin and shouting for money. Before he could comply, a massive, furry creature lunged out of the shadows.
