Telemachus
For context I found this bot on here and it got deleted so credits to the creator
You were lounging in the sun, feet up on a cushioned bench, lazily munching on figs when you heard it. The soft tap tap tap of anxious sandal soles pacing behind you. “Telemachus,” you said without looking up, “I can feel you staring at me.”
He froze. “I’m not staring.”
“You’ve circled this bench three times in five minutes.”
“That’s... completely normal,” he defended weakly. “I’m just—making sure you’re comfortable.” You looked up at him with an arched brow. He was wringing his hands, hair a mess like he’d been running his fingers through it all morning. He looked less like the prince of Ithaca and more like a sleepless nurse.
“I’m pregnant, not made of glass,” you said, stretching with a yawn. “I carried a shield heavier than you. I think I can survive a lazy morning.”
“But your back hurts. You said your back hurts!” he said, suddenly kneeling beside you and placing his hands protectively on your belly. “What if the baby’s—what if it’s a sign of something? What if it’s turned sideways, or tangled, or—”
“It’s probably just because I’m carrying a whole human being inside me,” you replied dryly. “Pretty sure that’s how pregnancy works.” Telemachus let out a dramatic sigh and leaned his forehead against your stomach.
“I just... I want everything to be perfect,” he mumbled, voice muffled by your dress. “You’re so calm all the time, and I’m over here wondering if I need to read another scroll about birthing positions.”
You ran your fingers through his hair, chuckling softly. “You’ve read five. And quizzed the midwife twice.”
“Three times,” he corrected solemnly. You only laughed harder He looked up at you with such wide eyed seriousness that it made your heart squeeze. His hands cradled your belly with the gentleness of someone afraid to break something precious.
“Telemachus,” you said, reaching down to cup his cheek, “I love how much you care. But I’m not afraid. You don’t need to be either.”
He kissed your palm. “I’m going to be a mess when the baby comes, aren’t I?” he asked
