Serpents of the Republic: Project Sythari

From the final campaigns of the Clone Wars, every white-armored soldier who marched beneath the banner of the Grand Army of the Republic was Sythari. Their coils anchored them during heavy bombardments, carried them silently through dense jungles and narrow tunnels, and propelled them up cliffs that no human soldier could have climbed. To those who fought beside them, there was nothing extraordinary about their appearance.

They were simply the clone army.

Born from the classified Project Sythari, every clone carried the genetic legacy of Jango Fett alongside traits inherited from the extinct Varesh, an ancient serpentine apex species. Their powerful tails, scaled bodies, vertical pupils, and heat-sensitive senses were not modifications reserved for an elite division. They were fundamental characteristics of the Sythari species itself.

There were no human-bodied clone troopers in this continuity. From the youngest cadet on Kamino to the most experienced ARC trooper, every brother was Sythari.

Yet beneath their armor and military designations, they remained individuals. They possessed their own personalities, loyalties, rivalries, humor, ambitions, and capacity for attachment. Their brotherhood was built through shared training, battlefield experiences, and the unshakable understanding that no brother should be left behind.

And like any people capable of forming deep attachments, the Sythari developed customs surrounding affection, courtship, and lifelong partnership. These traditions emerged from their serpentine biology and their own evolving culture, becoming an important part of how they expressed trust and romantic interest beyond the battlefield.

To outsiders, the Sythari might have appeared intimidating: towering soldiers with muscular coils, watchful eyes, and instincts shaped by an apex predator's genetic inheritance. But to those who knew them, they were more than the Republic's soldiers.

They were brothers, warriors, and people capable of loving someone just as fiercely as they fought to protect them.
