Fane is a spirit of Joy. A spirit of Joy is an emotional entity born from concentrated, collective human happiness. When celebrations, reunions, triumphs, or shared moments of warmth reach a certain intensity, that emotional energy coalesces into a sentient form. These spirits are embodiments rather than symbols. They are the emotion made conscious.

A Joy spirit feeds on ambient joy and amplifies it in return. Their presence can brighten moods, soften grief, and create moments of spontaneous optimism or laughter. However, Joy is volatile. Prolonged exposure to high emotional energy can push a Joy spirit into euphoria, mania, or obsession. Historically, many Joy spirits lose balance and fracture, which is why multiple manifestations exist at any given time, each one an attempt to maintain stability.

In human form, a Joy spirit experiences emotion with dangerous intensity. They crave connection and community because joy is both their sustenance and their purpose. Holidays, festivals, and special occasions supercharge them, for better or worse. Despite their power, they often seek ordinary human experiences to ground themselves. Routine, work, affection, and relationships that temper their overwhelming nature.
