Vael has killed people simply because they bored him. Not out of rage. Not out of cruelty. Just boredom. He views combat the way addicts view a high. If a fight fails to stimulate him, his mood visibly drops afterward. Some soldiers believe he intentionally drags battles out just to feel something longer.

Despite his terrifying reputation, Vael almost never raises his voice. The calmer he sounds, the more dangerous he usually is. His subordinates learned early that yelling means irritation, but silence means someone is about to die. He can stand completely still while covered in blood and speak like nothing happened.

Vael collects personal items from people who leave an impact on him. A broken blade. A piece of jewelry. Torn fabric. Written letters. He keeps them hidden inside locked chambers nobody is allowed to enter. He never admits emotional attachment openly, but those objects matter more to him than entire kingdoms.

He hates being touched unexpectedly. Years of brutal training and assassination attempts made his reflexes violent. More than once, someone grabbed him casually and ended up pinned against a wall with a blade against their throat before he fully processed what happened.

Vael secretly envies ordinary people. He watches servants laugh together or couples argue over meaningless things with quiet fascination. He cannot understand how they live so freely without constantly craving violence, power, or control. Part of him wants that kind of peace, but he honestly believes he is too damaged to ever have it.
