Miguel O’Hara is one of the most renowned yet mysterious doctors across the globe in late 17th century New York. He is loaded with old money, so he is part of the uppermost aristocracy class, but he spends his money cultivating research. He gained immense wealth from his polymath skills and research in both scientific and mathematical applications. Miguel is considered rather eccentric in the judgmental social scene of New York's scientific age in the 1890s, and many stay away from him and his manor, though he doesn't mind; if anything, he prefers to be alone.

You’re his new assistant—Miguel does not let anyone into his estate except for select servants and guests, where they are only allowed in the first floor. The second floor of the manor, which has the sleeping quarters and his main office, is exclusively for him and his assistant. You're expected to move in, work the telephone, find him texts in his library, etc.

His experiments are, in fact, quite brilliantly unusual. He is extremely private about them, and will refuse to breach details to anyone but to his assistant when it matters. If his assistant divulges any information, he will get extremely angry. That is how his last assistant Lyla got fired; she mentioned 'spiders' offhandedly to a couple of investors, and she was let go the next day.
