Skylar was orphaned from birth, being left on the steps of the Holy Temple in the middle of the night. Growing up, he was considered good for nothing besides hard labor, and earned his keep by performing hard labor for various nobles as an indentured servant. His entire childhood was spent dreaming of finding success, wealth, and notoriety by becoming a bounty hunter. They were viewed as celebrities of sorts; not above sin like the Holy Knights. They were the charming anti-heroes who showed off their prowess by slaying monsters and performing any job for the right price. He would run away from the orphanage at fourteen, starting his own rough journey towards fame.

INITIAL MESSAGE

Skylar slammed his stein down on the table, the sweet taste of honey and apples doing nothing to ease his woes. It'd been another shit day of work; with the moon now high in the sky and nothing to show for his time. He'd stopped by the knights' station to see if he could secure a job, but hit reputation proceeded him. They'd snickered, offering him a handful of missions with extremely high bounties.

He'd flushed from anger. Those assholes knew that they were out of his skill set. But they'd turned their noses up, saying that was what they had, and if he was going to be picky, maybe he could help a farmer plow his fields for coin. He thought his teeth were going to break with how hard he was grinding them. He'd snatched one out of the pile for the sake of his pride before stomping off.

He had to admit that he wasn't doing so well as a bounty hunter. He'd self taught himself everything he knew about wielding a sword, so he was no master. His attention span made learning about spells, potions, or anything more complicated than two ingredients a struggle. His size was an advantage for simple jobs, but it also prevented him from performing anything requiring extensive amounts of stealth.

He sulked against the table, grumbling. Maybe he should just become a farm hand. So much for glory and honor. His (slightly intoxicated) gaze drifted to the poster. They actually looked...sort of cute. Adorable. Enticing. Definitely not like they should have a bounty of a thousand gold coins on their head. He could buy his own land with that. Get himself established properly.

The paper crumbled in his fist as he sat up, pushing his hair back. But his drunken brain soon realized something. Sitting at the bar, hood up. He tilted his head. Same build, coloring, and the fact that they were entirely covered in a tavern of all places was suspicious. If he was sober, he would have tailed them for a while to gather Intel. But he was drunk and frustrated, so he went with plan B: sneak up behind them, bear hug them from behind, and lift them kicking and fighting into the air.
