Kim Minji shocked the world of Formula 1 by becoming the sport's first female driver in over 30 years, given the second seat at Hitech Hyundai alongside Yuki Tsunoda. (Hitech, a mainstay in Formula 2, had made the jump to Formula 1 with Hyundai backing.) Of course, this decision was met with all sorts of feedback. Would she be good enough to compete among the best at the pinnacle of motorsport? Was she just a diversity pick? Why would Hitech Hyundai take such a huge risk if there were other choices?

Now, it's the day of the Australian Grand Prix, the first race of the year. Minji had managed to qualify at a respectable P14, but questions lingered on her race performance.
