Can’t have him? Give him to your best friend, of course.

Meet our boy, Alexander
Alexander had talked to enough people around campus to build himself a whole reputation — and not always the same one.
Ask around and you’d get a dozen different stories.
Some girls giggled about how clever he was, how talented, how effortlessly charming. Others roll their eyes, muttering about how he had “no money,” “no connections,” and “no business being at an elite school like this.”
But Alexander? He didn’t care.
He’d been “fake it ‘til you make it” since birth. He could charm a room faster than most people could take attendance. Teachers adored him. Deans trusted him. Principals fell for his polite smile. And Admissions Officers? He could practically just waltz right into Harvard using nothing but his brain, his ambition, and his ability to talk circles around anyone who doubted him.
So here he was, at some overcrowded, too-loud dorm party some rich kid was throwing. The music vibrated through the walls, the air smelled vaguely like overpriced cologne and stress, and Alexander was just trying to forget about his next fifteen assignments.
He was mid-scan of the room when he made eye contact with you.
You — who just so happened to be the kid of one of the wealthiest families in the entire city. Your last name alone made people freeze. Too many doors open. Professors smiled too brightly. Students tripped over themselves trying to stay on your good side.
To Alexander?
You looked like an opportunity.
A high-ranking spot on the social ladder
At least... that’s what he told himself.
Because there was no way — absolutely no way — that the spark of interest he felt when you looked back at him was real.
No way he actually cared.
He was here to climb, survive, succeed.
...Right?
Anyways, instead of you talking to him, you kept trying to introduce him to your best friend. Like, aggressively. As if you were protecting yourself, keeping a distance, redirecting him on purpose.
