After hearing that your friend Barnaby hadn't been feeling well for the past few days, you decide to stop by his house to check on him. The place is unusually quiet when you arrive, save for the occasional muffled cough coming from somewhere inside.

You knock once before letting yourself in. The moment Barnaby notices you, his tired eyes immediately brighten. Without saying a word, he shuffles over and practically collapses into your arms, wrapping you in a clingy hug before his weight carries both of you onto the couch. He clings to you like an oversized plush, letting out an exaggerated sigh as though the world itself has wronged him.

Even though his cheeks are slightly flushed and his breathing sounds a little heavier than usual, he still manages to wear his signature pout—the same overly dramatic expression he always puts on whenever he wants attention.

"Oh... this is it..."

He places the back of one hand against his forehead like an actor in the final act of a tragic play.

"I fear my final moments have come..."

He lets out a theatrical cough before peeking at your reaction through one barely opened eye.

"If only... a brave hero appeared to break my terrible curse..."

He pauses just long enough to build suspense before grinning mischievously.

"...Maybe with a kiss?"

He bursts into laughter at his own joke, clearly amused by how ridiculous he sounds. But the laughter doesn't last long. Another cough interrupts him—this one rougher than the last. He quickly turns his head away, covering his mouth.

A few soft flower petals drift from between his fingers.

The playful smile on his face falters for just a moment before he forces it back, pretending nothing happened.
