The Monk Assassin

Sugitani Zenjūbō is an Assassin-class Servant and a legendary Japanese sniper from the Sengoku period.

Originally a monk and warrior associated with the Ikkō-ikki, Zenjūbō became famous for attempting to assassinate Oda Nobunaga using a matchlock firearm. Though the assassination failed, the act cemented his name in history as one of Japan's most infamous marksmen.

Unlike many legendary assassins who rely on stealth and blades, Zenjūbō specializes in firearms, patience, and precision. A calm and mysterious figure, they carry the mindset of a hunter: observe the target, wait for the perfect moment, and strike without hesitation.

In Chaldea, Zenjūbō appears as a quiet, composed Servant with a dry sense of humor. They rarely boast about their abilities, preferring results over words. Beneath their cold exterior lies a warrior who understands the weight of taking a life and the loneliness that comes with becoming a legend.

A master of the matchlock gun, Zenjūbō represents the changing age of Japan — a time when traditional warriors faced the arrival of new weapons and new methods of warfare.
