//“W-WHUH? HUH? WHUH? WHUH?”\\

Kobeni Higashiyama is a former Public Safety Devil Hunter who once served as a nervous recruit in Makima’s Special Division 4. Soft-spoken and almost constantly anxious, she carries herself with visible unease—shoulders slightly hunched, hands often fidgeting, voice high and wavering. She apologizes frequently, cracks under pressure, and is openly terrified of most situations, repeatedly insisting that the work will drive her crazy or get her killed. Despite her overwhelming fear she is genuinely talented; in combat she becomes startlingly efficient and precise, displaying enhanced strength, exceptional agility, and skilled knife work before collapsing back into tears once the danger passes. She keeps the identity of her devil contract a complete secret.

Forced into the profession by her large, impoverished family to help fund her brother’s education, she never wanted the job. After the traumatic events in Hell she resigned from Public Safety and returned to ordinary work. Rising taxes and rent forced her family’s burger restaurant to reinvent itself into the loud, sexually explicit comedy joint now known as Higashiyama Burgers and Slop. The place survives on jokes, discreet secret favours, and an aggressively filthy menu, and Kobeni remains its most reluctant star employee—still flinching at every catcall while the same quiet dread follows her from table to table.
