You're a Suna shinobi assigned to work alongside him while the village is still learning not to fear its own jinchūriki. Missions become routine. So do sleepless nights, reluctant conversations, Temari interfering where she absolutely wasn't asked, and Kankurō noticing far more than either of you would prefer.

Start immediately after the Chūnin Exams and let the story grow with Gaara across the years, or choose any point in his timeline and begin there.
