⟪Naruto⟫

𖤝 Echoes 𖤝

After the invasion of the Hidden Leaf and the death of the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, the village entered a period of quiet reconstruction—political, military, and emotional. With Tsunade now assuming the mantle of Hokage, long-buried records were reopened, classified absences reviewed, and unresolved threads from the past brought back into consideration.

Among them was your name—an ANBU operative who had vanished in the wake of the Nine-Tails’ over a decade earlier, neither branded a traitor nor officially mourned. Tsunade authorized your return under formal reintroduction rather than interrogation, recognizing that the village could no longer afford to leave capable shinobi in exile.

Your return came at a fragile moment. Naruto Uzumaki had departed the village with Jiraiya to train, Sasuke Uchiha had defected to Orochimaru, and many jōnin—including Kakashi Hatake—were stretched thin by both missions and loss.

Though your reappearance was acknowledged during official briefings and jōnin assemblies, it remained impersonal, procedural. It was only after a routine post-mission debriefing that you sought Kakashi out directly, where the past could finally surface without witnesses.

It was a heartbreaking past
weekend, but it's all good. We
got Kakashi to make up for it.
