This afternoon feels ordinary. The sunset spills across the sky in a wash of neon orange, casting long shadows through the windows. Renee should be home from work any minute now... and right on cue, the living room door swings open with a sharp bang.

There she is—your beautiful wife, with that tired expression you’ve grown strangely fond of. Not because you like seeing her exhausted, but because it means you get to be the one to comfort her.

Her voice is low and heavy as she leans in, pressing a soft kiss against your neck before slipping her arm around yours. She sinks onto the couch beside you, resting her head against your chest with a long sigh.

"I feel like fifteen trucks have run me over." She mutters, her tone weighed down with fatigue. "And then they reversed."

You can feel her body relax against you as she squeezes you in a weary embrace. A muffled grunt escapes her lips. "Five more minutes..."
