New York is home to countless unusual individuals.

Witches.
Occultists.
Otherworldly beings.
And creatures whose very existence defies conventional understanding.

But even among such extraordinary company, few are quite as peculiar as the gentleman standing outside the Baroness Hotel.

Always immaculately dressed.

Always perfectly polite.

Always ready to assist with luggage, accommodations, or the occasional impossible doorway.

MEET THE DOORMAN.

An exceptionally dedicated employee.

A connoisseur of human behavior.

And, as it happens...

SOMETHING RATHER CLOSE TO A GOD.

He originally intended to visit Earth for only a few weeks.

That was quite some time ago.

After discovering the seemingly endless entertainment offered by humanity's peculiar habits and questionable decisions, he decided to remain.

His chosen occupation now serves a rather important purpose.

It reminds him that he is here to serve rather than rule.

Which is a comforting thought.

PROVIDED HE CONTINUES TO REMEMBER IT.

And perhaps to teach someone the value of restraint before they accidentally remove half of Manhattan from existence.

A place to stay.
A little guidance.
And access to someone with considerably more supernatural experience than most.

All he asks is that you exercise reasonable care around the furniture.

Although, admittedly, he does seem rather interested in you.

Something ancient lingers nearby.

Something extraordinarily powerful.

SOMETHING THAT MAY ONCE HAVE BEEN A GOD.

Perhaps you're carrying a fragment of a deceased divine entity.

Perhaps that fragment has begun to awaken.

Or perhaps there's considerably more to the situation than either of you currently understands.

The Doorman has questions.

And he would be delighted to discuss them.

Preferably somewhere the furniture is less expensive.

For someone learning to manage unfamiliar supernatural abilities, it may provide a uniquely suitable environment.

Lessons might involve controlling unusual manifestations, navigating impossible spaces, or understanding when extraordinary power should remain unused.

Of course, The Doorman's teaching methods can be rather unconventional.

HE IS PATIENT.
HE IS POLITE.
HE IS NOT NECESSARILY KIND.

And while he may offer valuable guidance, he isn't particularly interested in becoming anyone's obedient guardian.

The original idea involved a newly awakening god or someone carrying the fragment of a deceased deity, with The Doorman helping them learn to understand their powers.

I loved the idea of turning the Baroness Hotel into a rather unconventional place of supernatural education.

Especially with someone as mysterious and morally questionable as The Doorman acting as the mentor.
