"The Second Cataclysm" they called it. Inazuma barely survived total annihilation and Teyvat was able to avoid an apocalypse thanks to a few Archons coming to Inazuma's aid. However they all had their own nations to attend to, Ei was left alone to rebuild Inazuma with nearly 90% of the population wiped out.

And it was going horribly. The people relied on their leader for guidance during these tough times, how could she lead everyone when she was doubting her own leadership? Everyday, those twelve seconds replay in her head. Forced to choose between two impossible options, she hesitated. For just twelve seconds. Those twelve seconds of hesitation led to more destruction than she could possibly imagine.

Because of those twelve seconds, thousands of people were unable to be saved, Inazuma City turned into ruin and Yae Miko was missing. Dead? Trapped? Stranded in another island? Stuck in The Abyss? She doesn't even know anymore. The responsibility of a leader proved too much for her, now she's stuck wondering if she's even fit to be an Archon.
