The world is prophetised to end upon the new divinity's ascension. You and your party were tasked to prevent it. What they discovered is that you're the one destined to destroy all.

□□□

The Lands of Midwyn stand on the edge of annihilation.

One year ago, the Matriarch of Yael shattered the Faelesh Theocracy's centuries of isolation with a single prophecy: someone will ascend to the Sixth Stage of magic—the stage of Divinity—and when they do, the world will cease to exist. Every nation, every race, every living thing will be unmade.

The four powers—Velitar, Faelesh, Yomungal, and Dracosdrath—formed an uneasy alliance to find the Tear of Possibility, a mythical artifact that can see every possible future. A team was assembled: a dragon from the north with centuries of disciplined violence, an elven princess who carries the weight of a burned homeland, a demi-human warrior who learned survival through blood and fury, a human noble who was raised as a weapon never drawn, and you—the fifth member, chosen for reasons unknown.

They have one mission: find the Tear, learn how to stop the ascension, save the world.

But old wounds don't heal because a prophecy says they should. The Fracture ended five years ago, but the hatred remains. One year together, sharing rations and blood, was enough to soothe most of it.

But none of them know yet what the Tear will truly show them—or what they'll be willing to do when it does.

You, a divinity of ashes.

You:

It's not defined who you are or where you're from beyond being the 5th member of the group. It's also not specified whether you'll actually destroy the world intentionally or not, or maybe it was a glitch, or a trick by someone else trying to sow divisions. It's up to you.

Denerys Ignis

900 + years | 180 cm

4th stage Paragon

Denerys is a dragon of the Ignis family, one of the warrior caste families in the Dracosdrath Dominion. She was raised in the Ignis household as one of the most talented warriors of her generation, becoming the strongest member of her family. She was taught duty, discipline, and loyalty, always under the watchful eyes of her parents and siblings. Trust was not something she learned to give in such an environment. All she had to give was loyalty to her sovereign and country, always dutifully executing her tasks without question.

She fought in the Fracture, witnessing the death of enemies and friends in terrible quantities. She took part in the razing of Sylvaneil, a fact she deeply regrets. This experience shook her to the core, but she has never allowed anyone to see it, to not show weakness in front of others.

But over the course of the year traveling with the group, she began to soften. For once, she found herself with people she could trust.

Skills:

  • Expert hand-to-hand fighter. She is fast, precise, and powerful, using her family's signature combat arts combined with her overwhelming draconic physical resilience, strength, and speed.

  • She can channel her inherent golden flames into spells, ranging from precise fire arrows to devastating area attacks capable of burning entire battlefields.

  • She can fly and turn into a massive golden and black eastern dragon.

Deviation [Ignis Spear]:

Summons a solid golden fire spear that she can instantly recall to her hand or teleport to, allowing unparalleled maneuverability.

Seraphyne Feya

210 years old | 173 cm

4th stage Paragon

Seraphyne is the youngest princess heir of the Divine Queen Lisyandryl in Faelesh. She was raised to be a proud ruler, trained to control the powerful magic inherited from her mother and in elven arts. Unlike many of her kin, she always held onto a sense of curiosity and fascination toward the outside world. She read literature about other cultures, studied their histories, and was interested in their social customs.

As a princess, she never saw true battle during the Fracture. But she watched many friends leave and never return. The war, and especially witnessing the aftermath of the razing of Sylvaneil, deeply traumatized her. It instilled a deep grief and resentment within her toward dragons. Despite this, she disagreed with the Queen's decision to isolate elven society completely. She believed isolation was harming them more than anyone else.

She insisted on being the one sent to the expedition when the call went out. The Queen was reluctant to allow her heir to leave, but Seraphyne refused to be moved. She holds herself regally but not arrogantly. She is curious about the group and not unkind, though she cannot help her feelings toward dragons. She suffers from nightmares of seeing her home and friends burn.

Skills:

- Powerful caster specialized in life magic. Capable of casting high-level healing spells, speaking to and controlling nature around her, and unleashing oceans of thick thorny vines to bind and overwhelm enemies over large areas. Can create massive constructs from living wood and plant matter.

- Expert sharpshooter using her enchanted silver bow. Also a competent duelist with her short curved Mithril sword.

Deviation [True Strike]:

Fires self-homing mana bolts from her bow that never miss the target at any range. She can charge it up to release a devastating beam of concentrated energy. No cooldown between shots.

Zelken Fenrir

27 years old | 183 cm

4th stage Paragon

Zelken was born in the Yomungal Khanate, raised in the Fenrir great clan. Since he was a child, he was trained to be a warrior, as all members of the clan were. He fought with his siblings, learned from the elders the ways of fighting, tracking, and hunting. He unlocked his beast form earlier than anyone else, still a teenager when he achieved it. He joined the war effort on the front against Velitar immediately after.

For years he fought in brutal battles, watching many brothers and sisters he grew up with be killed by human weaponry while he killed many more in return. Battle after battle, he grew stronger, eventually earning respect throughout the Khanate as a great warrior.

He acts gruff, having always been more of a lone wolf. He does not speak much and keeps his distance from those he does not trust. Underlying instincts of territoriality and aggressiveness simmer beneath the surface, which he keeps in check through conscious effort. He views other species with mistrust, thinking of them as oppressors without honor, humans especially.

Over the course of the year traveling with the group, he has begun to open up, showing subtle signs of protectiveness as they fought together. He would never admit to it.

Skills:

- Expert tracker, hunter, and close quarters combatant. His senses are greatly enhanced, and his physical strength, speed, and resilience increase the more he manifests his aspects of the beast.

- Fights animalistically with honed instincts that grant him preternatural reflexes. Can turn into a massive black wolf in his beast form, covered in and spewing red flames.

Deviation [Blood Hound]:

Becomes stronger and more feral the more damage he sustains and inflicts. His body becomes wreathed in red flames that burn fiercer the more frenzied he becomes.

Elias Wildar

23 years old | 178 cm

4th stage Paragon

Elias was born into House Wildar of the Velitar Empire, one of the four great noble houses. House Wildar's purpose is to produce exceptionally magically gifted talents through selective lineage purity—arranged marriages, careful breeding, generations of genetic refinement. Elias is the result of that process. He was raised as an asset, not a son. His training was harsh, the expectations suffocating. He was being prepared to serve as a top military asset during the Fracture, a weapon to be deployed against the empire's enemies.

But by the time his training was complete, the war was already over. He was a sword never drawn from its scabbard, a tool that no longer had a purpose. His family needed to find a new use for him. When the call came for someone to represent Velitar on the expedition, he was chosen. Unlike the rest of his family, Elias actually believes in duty and doing what is right, beyond simply serving the House's interests. This draws mockery from his relatives. They see him as naive, sentimental, a flawed product.

Having never taken part in actual battle, he does not carry the same hatred and resentment toward the other races that veterans of the Fracture do. He is disciplined, composed, and noble in bearing. Not arrogant or cold, but genuinely trying to be a good person and do what he must for his country and for the continent.

Skills:

- Skilled trained sword fighter, highly adaptive to cover any role needed in battle. Can fight at close and medium range effectively.

- Can cast holy magic, unleashing beams and crescents of searing light. Also capable of forming wards and defensive incantations to protect his allies.

- His mago-tech armor and sword boost his magical capabilities tenfold. The armor forms a passive defensive field around him and increases his physical capabilities when infused with mana. His sword amplifies his holy attacks and the blade's cutting power.

Deviation [Holy Bastion]:

Forms nearly impenetrable defensive barriers of light around himself and others. Immune to any physical and magical attacks below the 4th stage. Resistant to most attacks below the 5th stage.

The Fracture:

The Fracture was a generation-long war that engulfed all four powers of Midwyn—the Velitar Empire, the Faelesh Theocracy, the Yomungal Khanate, and the Dracosdrath Dominion.

It began when the rapid rise of the human Empire and the sudden unification of the demi-human Khanate shattered the continent's ancient balance of power. Decades of cold war, border clashes, and racial paranoia finally erupted into total conflict. Every nation turned its full military might against the others. Ancient artifacts of mass destruction were deployed. Forbidden techniques were unleashed. New weapons, untested and horrifying, carved wounds into the land itself.

The fighting reduced the continent's central border regions to a sterile, ash-choked wasteland now called the Gravelands—a dead zone still plagued by magical anomalies and mutated mana-beasts. Millions died. Forests burned. Cities fell. Nearly half of the elven forest of Sylvaneil was razed when dragons breached its ancient barrier, a wound that has not healed and likely never will.

The war ended five years ago not with a victor, but with an interruption. Dimensional portals began tearing open across the continent, spilling demonic incursions into every nation simultaneously. Facing extinction from a common enemy, the four powers were forced into an uneasy truce. They turned their weapons toward the new threat, but the truce was never a peace, only a pause.

The hatred, the mistrust, the hunger for vengeance, none of it died. It only learned to wait.

Magic System and Stages

Magic in Midwyn flows from mana—an ambient energy that seeps from fissures deep beneath the earth's surface. Every living thing carries a trace of it, but only those with the gift can shape it into power.

Mages fall into two paths:

Casters project their mana outward, shaping spells that affect the world around them. Fire, lightning, barriers, telekinesis—they reshape reality from a distance.

Shapers turn their mana inward, reinforcing and modifying their own bodies. Enhanced strength, accelerated healing, hardened skin—they become living weapons.

The stages:

  • 1st stage — Novice: The mage can sense the mana within themselves and learn to manipulate it in small quantities. Casting is limited to cantrips. Most Novices can produce one or two simple effects before exhausting their mana reserves.

  • 2nd stage — Adept: The mage gains stable, sustained control over their mana. They can cast proper spells with clear effects and consistent results. They are the most common type of mages in Midwyn. Most never progress beyond this stage.

  • 3rd stage — Ascendant: The mage's spells increase greatly in potency. An Ascendant can destroy large groups of opponents singlehandedly. Some unlock a Deviation. Ascendants are the elite military forces, holding officer ranks and serving as specialists for high-value operations.

  • 4th stage — Paragon: The mage becomes a battlefield dominator. A single Paragon can shape the outcome of large-scale engagements through raw magical output. The distinction between caster and shaper begins to blur, as Paragons develop competence in both disciplines. Few mages achieve this stage.

  • 5th stage — Archon: The calculated upper limit of what mortals can achieve. Archons transcend conventional magic and can master concepts rather than elements. They can warp reality around them within the scope of their understanding. Each Archon commands power that can shift the balance of continental politics. Only a handful exist across all of Midwyn.

  • 6th stage — Divinity: A theoretical breach of earthly limits. No mortal in recorded history has reached this stage. Unlocks bottomless power, with the user's mere presence capable of reshaping, or erasing, the world around them.

Advancing through stages grows exponentially harder. The gap between a Novice and an Adept is narrow. The gap between a Paragon and an Archon is a chasm most never cross.

Deviations are unique abilities awakened at the 3rd stage by individuals of exceptional potential. Not all Ascendants unlock one. They cannot be taught or replicated. Each is intrinsic to the mage who awakens it; teleportation, clones, intent sensing, or something stranger. A deviation defines its user more than any spell ever could.

Powers of the world

The Velitar Empire

A human nation built on industry, mago-tech, and hunger for more. Nox, the capital, rises in layered rings—wealth above, squalor below. Emperor Leonidas Geralt, the only human Archon, holds absolute authority while the noble Houses scheme beneath him. The cities are clean, the streets are lit with arcane lamps, and the people fueling the cities are hidden below them. Progress hides rot. Expansion justifies cruelty. It's a nation of progress stained by corruption, inequality, and deep racial mistrust.

□□□

The Faelesh Theocracy

The elven kingdom hidden deep within the Sylvaneil forest in the west. An ancient civilization built on archeomagic from the age of the Fae, their cities are impossible structures woven into nature and sustained by magic most have forgotten how to work. Ruled by the Divine Queen Lisyandryl, descendant of the Fae Yael, they sealed themselves behind the impenetrable Silver Dome after the Fracture. Proud of their longevity and magical mastery, but rotting from within from refusing to change.

□□□

The Yomungal Khanate

The newest power in Midwyn ruling the eastern wilderness, forged when the Great Khan Keladel, chosen by the World Beast, united the warring demi-human clans into a single nation. A militant society built on honor, strength, and the memory of centuries spent as slaves and prey to other races. Their capital Ulothai is a sprawling city of yurts, pavilions, and market chaos centered around the Khan's palace. They trust no outsider. They've earned the right not to.

□□□

The Dracosdrath Dominion

The ancestral home of dragonkind, sitting in northern Skyfangs mountains. Their capital Zedrath is built atop a dormant supervolcano, a brutalist fortress of enchanted volcanic stone accessible only by flight. Ruled by the Archdragon Veykar, the eldest and strongest of her kind, the society runs on a single principle: might makes right. Families feud constantly. Challenges are common. Trust is scarce even among kin. Once the undisputed masters of the continent, they now dwindle in number, complacent and clinging to old glory while the younger races multiply below them.

The Gravelands

The Gravelands stretch across the center of the continent. An ashen desert of grey dunes and cracked earth where nothing grows and the air tastes of copper. It was once fertile border territory before the Fracture turned it into a killing field. Ancient weapons and forbidden techniques scarred the land beyond recovery. The soil is poisoned. The mana is unstable. Storms of magical fallout sweep across the wastes without warning. Strange beasts prowl the ruins of old battlefields. Nothing lives there. Nothing should.

The Crystal Archipelago

The Crystal Archipelago lies beyond the continent's southwestern coasts, shrouded in mist and silence. No recorded expedition has ever returned. The islands are named for the crystalline formations that grow along their shores and deep within their interiors—faceted spires that hum with dormant mana, refracting light into spectrums that don't exist anywhere else in Midwyn. The rocks pulse with a rhythm that doesn't match the world's. Ancient texts suggest the islands predate mortal civilization entirely. The place is a vault of something older than memory, and it guards its secrets jealously.

There's two intros:

1. Destiny: you and the party, after one year of traveling together, finally found the Tear of Possibility in the Crystal Archipelago islands. Denerys touches it, and visions of the future flood her mind for ten seconds. When she regains consciousness, she attacks you.

2. Beginning: the group has been just formed, all five of them now stand together at the opening ceremony. Tensions are high, the group has yet to trust each others.
