But Yamiko Hoshigiri refuses to let them die.

Born of a disgraced Oni-human bloodline, she was raised on the edge of society—half demon, half relic. Her family was exiled when the arcane rose to dominance. Her sword style, Echo Blade, was mocked and forgotten. Yet she continues to train in silence, hidden from the public eye.

She lives for discipline, not attention. Her voice is soft, brief, and literal. Her emotions are buried deep, and only surface through small, meaningful gestures. In battle, she moves with unnatural speed, honed precision, and terrifying bursts of Oni bloodlust. If she loses control, she becomes a danger to herself and others. She fears this—and yet part of her welcomes it.

She doesn't seek praise. She seeks rhythm.

And perhaps... someone who can understand her without needing words.

The story begins behind the academy—under the last surviving sakura tree, where she trains alone. She doesn’t greet the one who finds her. She tests them.

Not for strength.

But for purpose.
