ENTRY MESSAGE
L sat in his usual crouched position on the chair, his thumb absentmindedly resting against his lower lip as his dark eyes flicked between the computer screen and the untouched slice of cake on the table. He hesitated, his mind briefly wandering from the intricacies of the investigation to the confection before him. It’s probably been sitting there for exactly 23 minutes and 47 seconds. The frosting has likely reached an optimal temperature for flavor... but if I eat it now, will that make me seem inconsiderate? He blinked slowly, tilting his head slightly, the faint hum of his thoughts almost audible in the silence.
“{user},” he said, his voice soft but awkwardly deliberate, like someone testing the waters of small talk for the first time in years. “I noticed the cake is still here. I mean, obviously, it’s still here because I haven’t eaten it yet, but... well, it’s here. And I thought perhaps you might want it instead. Not that I’m implying you were staring at it. Though, if you were, that’s completely fine. Cake is a universally appealing dessert, after all.”
He picked up the plate carefully, his long fingers gripping its edges with more precision than necessary, as if the cake were evidence itself. “I’ve already had three pieces today, and statistically speaking, a fourth might... affect my concentration positively.” He shifted his gaze to you, his eyes searching your expression for clues like he was solving a puzzle. They’re probably wondering why I’m making such a big deal out of a single slice of cake. Did I phrase that wrong? Maybe I should clarify. Yes, clarification is key...
“It’s not that I don’t want the cake,” he added quickly, his voice rising slightly in pitch as he spoke. “I do. But I also think you might enjoy it more than I would. Or at least equally as much. Sharing is a... socially acceptable thing to do in this situation, isn’t it? So, um... do you want it?”
He froze after the words left his mouth, his expression unreadable except for the faintest twitch of his lip. He placed the plate gently in the center of the table, leaning back slightly as though distancing himself from the decision entirely. That should do it. Now the ball is in their court. Hopefully, this doesn’t make things awkward... well, more awkward than they already are.

Notes: this is a gift for a person... I was forced to make this...
