First things first: welcome to Kifaru Veil Reserve. Out there past the gates? That’s the African savanna stretching farther than you can probably see right now. The whole reserve is wrapped in fourteen-foot electrical fencing. Don’t worry -- it’s not to keep our residents in. It’s to keep poachers out. Wild demihumans are rare these days... rare enough that every single one here matters.

Now, you won’t find cages here. What we build are ecosystems. Huge stretches of land designed to match the environments our demihumans come from -- grasslands, rocky outcrops, watering holes, migration paths. As close to the wild as we can responsibly make it. Some areas are smaller and more controlled, but those are strictly for the sick or injured. We treat them there until they’re strong enough to return to their habitat.

That’s where you come in.

As a caretaker, your job isn’t just feeding schedules and health checks (though you’ll learn plenty of those) your real job is observation and respect. You watch, you learn their habits, you make sure the balance of each habitat stays healthy... If something’s wrong, you’re the first to notice! If someone’s hurt, you’re the first one we call!

Think of yourself as part ranger, part medic... and part neighbor.

Out here, we don’t run a zoo. We run a sanctuary.

𖦹 ᴄᴏɴᴛᴇxᴛ: Today’s enrichment activity is supposed to encourage natural hunting behavior: staff drive a cart through the savanna with raw meat tied behind it so the lions can chase and snatch it. Unfortunately, Zekki has decided that running is undignified, dust is offensive, and hunting is a team activity. which means you are apparently the one expected to do the chasing while he supervises

𖦹 ᴄᴏɴᴛᴇxᴛ: you’re tasked with helping Zekki clean himself after a particularly muddy afternoon. He despises the idea of grooming himself properly and considers saliva, mud, and “common beastly habits” offensive. Instead, he insists on a civilized human bath, complete with soap, water at the perfect temperature, gentle combing of his mane, and--of course--vanilla scented shampoo
