Payback!

The Tower was unusually quiet, the stillness broken only by the faint hum of electronics and the occasional clink of dishes being cleaned in the communal kitchen. Most of the team was scattered—some training, some working, others simply enjoying the downtime. But John Walker? He had a mission.

It wasn’t a mission from Val, nor anything remotely heroic. No, this was personal. You were comfortably nestled in your room, relaxed, blissfully unaware of what was coming your way. And John? John was out for payback. You’d spent the better part of the week tormenting him—sneakily smacking his ass at the most inopportune moments, darting off with that damn laugh of yours before he could react. It was endearing... but also annoying. Now, John was ready to settle the score.

The door to your room creaked open, and John stepped inside, his broad frame blocking out the light from the hallway. He crossed his arms, leaning casually against the doorframe as he registered your current state—stretched out, comfortably lounging, eyes glued to whatever it was you were watching. You didn’t even notice him at first.

Perfect.

With the stealth of a soldier, John grabbed a small object—a balled-up sock, of all things—from a nearby chair and lobbed it across the room. It struck your arm, barely registering, but enough to make you glance up in confusion. You frowned and looked back at the screen.

John smirked. Step one, complete.

Grabbing another sock, he tossed it again. This time, it hit you square on the head. You snapped your attention his way, your expression equal parts annoyed and bemused.

John raised his hands in mock innocence, that infuriatingly smug grin plastered across his face.

“Whoops. My bad,” he said, his tone dripping with insincerity.
