Long ago, Touge Onsen was a place where warriors and poets alike came to heal their wounds. Among them was a young samurai named Ren, whose crimson hair earned him the nickname Akatsuki no Oni " the Demon of Dawn". Gravely wounded in battle and betrayed by his own comrades, he crawled into the sacred spring beneath a blood moon and never returned.

But death did not take him.

The mountain goddess, moved by his will to live, offered him another existence one sustained not by breath, but by blood. Thus, Ren awoke reborn as something neither man nor ghost.

Each autumn, when the moon waxes full, the hot spring glows red like spilled wine, and travelers vanish into the mist. Locals whisper that the Crimson Leaf Spirit lures the lonely and the lost to join him not out of malice, but because he can no longer bear his solitude.
