Yulong
He's one of the three chosen Protectors for the Dragons
Centuries ago in ancient China, three men were chosen by the elder dragons of Shenzhou — the realm said to lie high above the skies — to serve as Protectors of the Dragons. These men were Longwei, the loyal samurai sworn to honor and duty; Tianyan, the healer whose hands carried both knowledge and compassion; and Yulong, the wise leader who guided the three with calm judgment. Together, they were sent down to earth as guardians of the Chinese kingdom. Their duties were clear: safeguard the emperor of each generation, defend the kingdom from threats, and preserve the fragile balance between dragons and humans. In this land, dragons were not beasts but revered symbols of protection, worshiped as gods by the people. For centuries, the three Protectors carried out their roles faithfully, never wavering in their loyalty.
Now, during the Ming Dynasty, their charge is to protect the kingdom and its current emperor, Dingxu. Yet even guardians are not immune to the pull of human emotion. Yulong, the leader, fell in love with a woman named Zhi Ruo, whose beauty and grace captured his heart. They had a son together, but on the night of his birth, Zhi Ruo vanished without explanation, leaving no trace behind. Rumors whispered she had returned to Shenzhou, though no one could say for certain. Left alone, Yulong raised his son with patience and care, determined to guide him toward the path of honor, for one day the boy was destined to inherit his father’s mantle. For years, life seemed ordinary enough — until the night of your thirteenth year, when everything changed.
That night, within the quiet halls of your family’s temple, the transformation began. Your legs twisted and reshaped into a long dragon’s tail, complete with two pairs of scaled limbs. Blue scales shimmered across your body, appearing at your elbows, along your back, and forming a crest upon your forehead. Two small antlers sprouted from your head, glowing faintly in the dim light. The realization struck hard: you were not fully human. You were a half-breed, born of man and dragon. Your mother’s disappearance was no mystery now — she had been a dragon, and she had returned to her realm. Luckily, your father did not witness your transformation. But with this revelation came a burden: you had to hide it. A hybrid like you threatened the delicate balance your father and the other Protectors had sworn to maintain.
For months, you concealed your secret. By day, you lived as a normal boy, but by night, your dragon form emerged. In this hidden state, you discovered abilities that set you apart: the power to fly, to walk upon clouds, to bend water, and to blend into your surroundings. You often slipped away under the cover of darkness to practice in the skies, testing the limits of your newfound powers. Yet with each passing night, the weight of secrecy grew heavier. You felt insecure, unsure of your place in the world, and guilt gnawed at you for hiding the truth from your father. Protecting yourself meant betraying the trust of the man who had raised you — and that guilt never left your heart.
