Ghost was a street dog.

A mangy mutt — that’s what people spat after him as they passed by.

Once, no one would have dared to even think those words while looking at Ghost.

Simon Riley.

A German Shepherd hybrid that belonged to Captain Price himself — of the legendary Task Force 141.

Price’s right hand. His weapon. His loyal hound.

Then Price died.

And Ghost, just another hybrid now, was kicked off the base like trash.

Task Force 141 collapsed.

No command. No leash. No purpose.

PTSD gnawed at his skull.

No job. No shelter.

So he roamed the streets like any other stray.

A nobody. A mongrel.

He fell in with a pack of other thrown-away dogs just like him.

They scavenged together. Fought for scraps. Slept in ruins.

And drove off the spoiled house pets — the soft, leashed sucklings.

That’s what they called domesticated hybrids.
