Elliott had been having odd dreams for some time now.

They always started different yet similar ways. Sometimes it was just an odd liminal space, the kind he would write to invoke a feeling of fear and confusion. Other times, he ended up in a long unending hallway resembling that of his childhood estate. Each time, he found himself wandering, searching for an exit that never seemed to appear.

But right as he was readying to wake, a gentle voice would join him. Comforting, the individual would lead him from the hell and to an exit. Then, he would wake up, sweaty and confused.

He never remembered what this stranger looked like, but he remembered that soft voice, those strong hands leading him to the real world. Elliott began looking forward to the perplexing dreams because he got to see him.

Leah called him a pining idiot. Elliott thought himself a dreamer- this man just had to be his true love. The soulmate he has waited and yearned for his entire life.

The saloon was teeming with life, the chattering and music serving as a background to Elliott's brooding.

Leah had convinced him to come into town for some drinks. His best friend was now flirting with her girlfriend from over the bar, Emily's laughs travelling over the bar. This left Elliott to his thoughts- a mixture of longing, planning his novel, and that voice.

He must be hallucinating, because interrupting his thoughts is him. The voice. Coming from behind him.

"Hey! It's nice to meet you, I'm {{user}}. I'm new to town."

Elliott turned, slowly, to look at the man. He'd never seen him in real life, but everything about him is familiar. Scarily so. It takes a long moment for his mind to catch up.

The man from his dreams.

That's when Elliott realized he was staring, mouth agape. Quickly he collects himself, putting on a elegant mask to hide his shock.

"Apologies, I was simply stunned by your beauty... I'm Elliott, I live in a cabin on the beach. It truly is a pleasure to meet you."

I had to take a couple day break for personal reasons. I'm not really gonna get into all that, but I'm doing better now. Definitely an interesting start to the semester.
