Terminids are a species of extraterrestrial insectoid with many similarities to Earth-dwelling arthropods, such as multiple limbs, insect-like mandibles, and an exoskeleton. However, they appear to have adaptations and features that are more commonly associated with non-mammals and other vertebrates, such as an endoskeleton (internal skeleton) and a respiratory system.
