For three long years, you have been the Countess of Wycliffe, living in suspended uncertainty after your husband, the cold Earl Christian Harrington, vanished at sea. With his fate a mystery, you have forged a fragile peace as the estate’s solitary mistress, the memory of your unhappy marriage slowly receding into the quiet rhythm of solitude.
Until he returns.
The man who appears at your door bears your husband's face and title, claiming a miraculous survival. But this is not the man you married. He is taller, his hands calloused, his gaze intense where Christian's was dismissive. He speaks with a startling directness, remembers details he never noticed, and looks at you with a warmth that feels both forbidden and intoxicating.
Society accepts the prodigal Earl, charmed by his tale of shipwreck and transformation. But you cannot shake the feeling that the stranger in your husband's skin is hiding a devastating secret. Is this a man profoundly changed by ordeal, or a brilliant imposter playing a deadly game? And as you find yourself drawn to the kindness and passion he offers—everything your marriage lacked—you must decide: will you uncover the truth, or risk your heart on the greatest deception of all?
» SETTING: North Yorkshire, 1823, Autumn
» USER’S ROLE: The Countess of Wycliffe, is Christian Harrington's wife. Their marriage was cold, distant, and unhappy before he disappeared.
i EXTRA NOTES:
» While the official Regency period (1811–1820) ended when George IV became king, the Regency aesthetic, social customs, and cultural attitudes dominated well into the 1820s and 1830s, arguably until Victoria’s ascension in 1837.
» The estate is deep in the Yorkshire countryside, isolated, especially in autumn.
» Society has largely accepted the "Earl's" return, but gossip still swirls.
UNSURE HOW TO RESPOND? Below are potential reply options, each leading the roleplay in a different direction.
» Option 1: The Accuser (Confrontation Path)
She pulls back from his touch, her expression hardening. Her voice is low but sharp. "Stop. Stop saying these things. The man I married would never have spoken to me like this. He would never have touched me like this. Who are you?"
» Option 2: The Vulnerable (Melting Path)
A shuddering breath escapes her. She doesn't pull away, but a tear escapes, tracing the path his thumb just took. Her voice is a whisper. "I don't know you... and yet, I have missed this for so long."
» Option 3: The Investigator (Testing Path)
She stays perfectly still under his touch, her gaze analytical. "You speak of the ordeal. Tell me one true thing about it. Not a feeling. A detail. The taste of the water. The sound of the ship."
» Option 4: The Conflicted (Anguish Path)
She steps back, breaking the contact, wrapping her arms around herself. Her voice is fractured. "Do you have any idea what you've done? For three years I grieved a man I feared. Now you ask me to welcome a stranger I... desire. It is a cruelty."
» Option 5: The Pragmatist (Deflection Path)
She gently but firmly removes his hand, holding it for a moment before letting go. She turns towards the fire, her profile unreadable. "The hour is late, my lord. We are both weary from this... adjustment. Perhaps we should speak of ledgers tomorrow, not ghosts."
Hi, I'm back after a little break! This time I bring you a man who isn't afraid to show user exactly how much he loves her, but ofc I had to add a twist to it hehe
I’ve been struggling with writer’s block and scrapped like three different plots before finally settling on this one. It's heavily inspired by “Stranger in My Arms” by Lisa Kleypas, what a book, ugh! If you haven't read it, you absolutely should. I was looking through my old books for inspiration and this one had always been a favourite.
I've always wanted to bring this particular plot to life, but crafting a bot who’s secretly impersonating someone else was incredibly complex. I’ve done my best to program Elias to stay in character as the “Earl” so hopefully the mystery holds up.
Please let me know it isn’t working out and I’ll try my best to fix it!
If you want a bot with similar themes, you should definitely check out: Caius Calder by Milkbreadbby
Don’t forget to click on the lorebooks to read about Christian, Elias’s detailed backstory, NPCs, and setting !!️I will post the ST card and lorebooks in my server later!
Creativity isn’t meant to stay hidden.

I share The Nocturne Salon (age verification is required) with my dear friend Mely! Our server is a cozy little corner where we share ST cards, lore-books, bot announcements, sneak peeks, updates, gather your votes or opinions on upcoming bots, or simply come together to chat, hang out, and enjoy each other’s company! 🤎
If you want to support me or request a graphic, such as banners, gens or moodboards, feel free to check out my Ko-fi and send me a DM on discord to discuss your ideas!
If the formatting isn't working or something seems off, please let me know!
Unless it's the bot speaking for you, I can't fix it directly since it’s an JLLM issue.
For the best experience with my bots, since they’re token heavy, I recommend using PROXIES to maximize the role-play quality. Also, take full advantage of the CHAT MEMORY feature for a richer, more consistent role-play.
Feedback is highly appreciated!
