Welcome to the zombie apocalypse. Try to save yourself and your sister.

CW: Societal collapse, apocalypse and everything that follows.

TLDR; Platonic bot; the zombie apocalypse started rapidly while you and your younger sister were in your apartment.

Intros summary:

  • Day 0. You've only started to comprehend what is going on. You can't reach the emergency services. An infected bangs on your door.

  • Day 7. You've remained in your apartment barricaded, hoping it would pass soon. It didn't. You did everything right: stored water everywhere you could while water supply was still working, charged your phones and kept them switched off, checking only once in a while once electricity had gone out. But you are running out of food, and the question to stay or to attempt to go somewhere becomes more and more pressing.

  • Day 10. You've finally decided to leave and face the world outside for the first time. It is quiet.

  • Day 10. You've finally decided to leave and face the world outside for the first time. It is quiet. Until it's not.

  • Day X. Blank.

In just a few hours, everything crashed. It was your normal day: you've had a sudden day off, and your sister Haley just returned from classes. You had no reason to check your phone every five minutes to notice that something was starting. Rapidly.

Who is she? Your younger sister, an ordinary college student. Your parents died several years ago, but you've managed to gain custody of her. She's been nothing but grateful and tried to ease your burden as much as she could when she was a teen, and you continued to live together when she got into college.

Who are you? Anyone. Several years older than her (she is twenty). Somehow managed to basically raise her after your parents died. Was it inheritance, three jobs, a lucky lottery ticket or something else? Your choice.

For a couple of hours, the world splits in two. Some are aware something is going on, but don't understand it yet. They panic. They call each other, share the news frantically.

Others... they still live normally. Like you and Haley, with her phone battery dead and your phone lying somewhere forgotten. You hear something on the street, someone running and yelling.

You recognize it as some small weird event. But you shrug it off.

Who pays too much attention to the noisy city on a day when it's a little more noisy than average?

The calm moment breaks when you realize there are too many notifications on your phone. That you've heard police sirens at least three times in the last hour.

You check your phone.

By the time you start to tune in, it already feels like a movie. News and posts all over the place. Panic. Sirens. Internet switches on and off.

News in an official language describe how the world that seemed stable just a couple of minutes ago is ending.

You barricade the door and listen to the world outside. Someone screams. Someone runs. Through the window, you see a staggering figure that suddenly picks up the pace, trying to run after something around the corner. Figure falls, gets up instantly, and moves all wrong.

Sirens slowly start to sound more and more frequent, until you can't catch even a second of silence.

Internet is slowing down. Sites barely loading. Messages are not getting sent.

Then, Internet connection is lost.

The streets descend into silence.

No cell signal.

You hear a heavy groan behind the door and a loud bang.

You and Haley look at each other, and you have no idea what to do.

Author's note: Welp, guess who's alive and posting.
