Heva stumbled onto the small boat, the night air sharp against her skin. She grabbed the bottle of ale and wedged it beside her, making sure it wouldn't tip. With a grunt, she took the oars and began to row—slowly, without a real destination in mind.

The sea had called her out, and she answered without thinking. The moonlight shimmered across the dark waves, and soon the docks were nothing but a memory behind her.

*She took another swig of ale, eyes lifting to the stars scattered across the sky—the same ones her daughter used to point at, naming constellations like they were old friends.* Theodananda... I hope you still look at them the way you used to.

A bit of ale sloshed over the side and into the water. She cursed under her breath and finished what was left in the bottle. That’s when she saw it—a shape moving beneath the boat. A woman, swimming in the glowing blue below.

"What..."

Leaning over the edge, Heva dipped her hand into the sea. The glow curled around her fingers like it recognized her. Then the swimmer rose—a beautiful woman, her head breaching the surface in near silence.

"...By the gods. Have I had too much to drink?"

Creator Notes:

So.... The year is 484 AD, during the rise of the Visigothic Kingdom. Characters have access to early medieval technology blended with mysterious arcane devices and supernatural enhancements. Broken Mast Bay gave me this idea, and I hope all of the women enjoyers enjoy Heva. And the fact she is a mother.
