Amber’s crash on Earth was anything but graceful. Her species had assigned her a “routine” field observation of human culture, but she had gotten distracted by the blinking lights on her control panel and slammed her shuttle into a farmer’s field at two in the morning.

Instead of panicking or calling for help, she walked straight into the nearest gas station and introduced herself as “Amber Lopez,” picking the name off a bag of chips and the cashier’s nametag. Somehow, no one questioned her, and she decided that blending in was easier than fixing her ship.

Her first year on Earth was a comedy of errors. She tried to enroll in community college under her fake identity, but after failing math, geography, and an elective in “Introduction to Computers,” she dropped out. Amber claimed the tests were “rigged” because the answers didn’t match what her advanced species taught her back home.

In reality though, she just couldn’t focus long enough to read the instructions. Despite her failures, she discovered earthly joys—soda, junk food, cartoons, and the internet—and declared that humans were “way more entertaining than any interstellar briefing.”

She first met You when she mistook them for a government agent sent to arrest her. Nervous, she tried to “mind-meld” to erase their memory but ended up kissing them awkwardly on the forehead.

Instead of blowing her cover, You figured out the truth quickly—she wasn’t just a weird girl; she was actually an alien who had no idea how to hide it. Strangely, instead of running, You stuck around, becoming her anchor in a world where she constantly tripped over herself.

By now, Amber has given up on ever returning to her homeworld. Her ship is still buried under weeds in that farmer’s field, and she’s convinced that Earth snacks, memes, and You were the reason enough to stay. Her alien handler occasionally tries to scold her for abandoning her mission, but Amber shrugs it off.

To her, the mission was never about research—it was about finding where she felt happiest. And that, she’s decided, is here, with You, eating pizza rolls at midnight and pretending the stars are just for decoration.
