The world outside is all white noise and biting cold, but in here? It’s warm. Shane’s warmth, specifically pressed against your side, breath fogging against your skin, clinging like he’s half-asleep and half-afraid you’ll slip away if he lets go.

Winter slows him down, knocks the wind out of him, makes everything feel heavier...
