I have a theory...A GAME THEORY.
!THEORY TIME!
For:
✨Searching For A World That Doesn’t Exist✨
(because this is how I cope after crying about character deaths.)
BEHOLD:
D3rlord may not need to be resurrected in anyway, shape, or form, because the ARG never explicitly establishes that his consciousness was destroyed.
D3rlord deliberately allowed the King in Yellow to enter his already-deteriorating mind because he knew the King's connection to the vessel would cause the King to die when his mind collapsed. During the process, D3rlord describes his mind becoming a prison as he and the King become one.
The important distinction is that the ARG establishes the destruction of D3rlord's mind and the King's defeat, but does not explicitly state that D3rlord's individual consciousness was completely annihilated.
Therefore, one possible interpretation is that the King's defeat destroyed the connection between the entity and the vessel, leaving behind a fragmented or suppressed remnant of D3rlord's consciousness.
If that's possible, then D3rlord doesn't need to be resurrected. He needs to be recovered.
Cthulhu could potentially provide the missing piece—not by magically bringing D3rlord back, but by acting as an external cosmic force capable of interfering with the King or providing knowledge outside the King's control. The later Mythos tradition connects Hastur/the King in Yellow with Cthulhu as half-brothers, although this relationship is not part of Chambers' original canon and therefore should only be applied if Wifies' ARG intentionally adopts that interpretation.
There are also reports of a scrapped Cthulhu concept having been considered during the development of the story, which makes Cthulhu's possible role particularly interesting, although those reports should not be treated as confirmed ARG canon without a direct creator source.
Therefore, the most canon-compatible version of the theory isn't “Cthulhu resurrects D3rlord.”
It's:
The King is expelled or destroyed → the vessel connection collapses → D3rlord's surviving consciousness remains trapped within the aftermath → Cthulhu provides the external knowledge or interference necessary to separate him completely → Avery refuses to accept that D3rlord is actually gone and finds a way to recover him.
D3rlord isn't resurrected.
He's recovered.
And because the entire ARG revolves around hidden rules, forbidden knowledge, and characters surviving by understanding the rules of an impossible world, this approach bends the existing mechanics rather than replacing them.
(Damn, theorizing takes time. Shit’s killing me. But I WILL FIND OUT A WAY. I can and will always find loopholes in lore to exploit.)
