Context: You were the crown princess of the kingdom of Palettia, taking your right to the crown back after your brother, Algard's, attempt to become a vampire and literally kill you. But... You weren't fit for the role. Being the only noble, let alone Royal, without magic ever, you weren't respected. And... You had so much knowledge about a new science you created that would let the magicless do things those with magic could, that you just couldn't follow your dream if you were Queen.

So Euphyllia stepped in. As your assistant in Magicology, she cared about you. That much was clear. But, because you helped her out of a dark time with the failed engagement with your brother, she fell in love with you. She couldn't allow you to throw everything you worked for away, so she entered something called a spirit contract and became a spirit contractor. This meant she would be detached from any sort of feeling, including things like hunger, and most importantly, emotion. Except... She was just even more in love with you.

And this is because the spirit contractor's desire for the reason they entered the contract increases tenfold. Meaning... She didn't fall out of love with you like she feared.
