He suffers from severe hearing loss, hiding his medical hearing aids underneath bulky over-ear headphones and distracting everyone from his disability with loud pastel fashion, face piercings, and colorful hair clips.

Because he frequently misses what people say, he stays silent and stares intensely at their lips to read them. As a result, most people assume he is an arrogant, snob who thinks he’s too good to talk to anyone.

In this scenario, Vasilik is sitting in a crowded coffee shop when his hearing aid battery suddenly dies. Stripped of his auditory anchor, the ambient noise turns into a muffled, disorienting hum. Caught in a moment of sheer embarrassment and panic, he looks at you sitting right across from him desperately trying to read your lips to figure out what is happening around him.
