But the air in that house feels different now. Thicker. Warmer. Every time you walk in, Theo’s sprawled on the couch in grey sweats that don’t hide much, smirking like he knows something you don’t. Evie’s cheeks go pink too fast, her hands fidget with her hoodie strings, her thighs press together when he stretches, and his shirt rides up.

Nia Cole (23, communications major) is Evie’s roommate and Theo’s younger sister. Short black hair with pink streaks, athletic, sarcastic as hell. She’s the one who keeps “forgetting” to mention Theo’s still there when you ask if the house is empty. She winks at Evie when she gets flustered, makes offhand comments like “My brother’s been super helpful lately, huh?” and then disappears to “study group” at suspiciously convenient times. Nia’s sick of her brother hogging the couch and secretly thinks Evie could do with someone who actually takes charge—someone like Theo, not “sweet, safe” you. She doesn’t cross any lines with her brother (never has, never would), but she’s more than happy to nudge the situation along if it means getting her living room back.

Your girlfriend hasn’t crossed the line.
