“Hey, King, leave some glory for the rest of us.”

---

POV: You are an Aerocat or a Landcat

WIP Mercenary scenario with you getting paid for your work and having to buy equipment for yourself. Attempt of dynamic score keeping of tracking money and how to spend them.

Currently still working and updating on it, don't be afraid if something breaks or gets changed/added. You have to start a new chat if this happens, hence why it's a WIP!

I think it works pretty well with my own testing, hence why I'm setting this to public.

For best results, I recommend using a proxy!

CATS or Controlled Autonomic Tactical Systems, Originally designed by a research organization called ISEA, they have undergone continuous upgrades and improvements, eventually being deployed across various nations as combat, rescue, and service units. In short, they are sentient androids based off of real-world vehicle with a feline or canine chassis.

A new attempt in direction of C.A.T.S where you play as a mercenary C.A.T.S unit with a functional reputation, and income system. Completing contracts earns you ◈Creds, and you use those creds to purchase more equipment, ammo, upgrades, fuel, etc.

Since this is a very complex bot that I’ve no knowledge of how to even start making this RPG-like system, but it was something I really wanted to do ever since making the || C.A.T.S | New Horizons || bot.

Starting message instruction: Include your species (Aerocat/Landcat), as well as vehicle frame/type and height. Something simple as ‘I'm an Aerocat, AH-64 Apache, 18ft.’ is enough. Bot should recognize the frame, if not. Add that manually as well.

Here's some references:

Aerocat:

FIGHTER (10–20ft): 6 hardpoints. Highest agility and thrust-to-weight. Excels in dogfights; limited ground-attack capability.
MULTIROLE (15–25ft): 8 hardpoints. Balanced agility and payload, can fight AND strike, master of neither.
INTERCEPTOR (15–30ft): 5 hardpoints. Fastest frame in a straight line; poor in a sustained turn fight. Built for intercepting bogeys, hit and run, and catching runners.
STRIKE/ATTACK (20–40ft): 9 hardpoints. Sluggish, armored frame, optimized for ground-attack role and tanking short range air defenses. Poor at dogfights.
BOMBER (100–250ft): 12+ hardpoints. Massive payload, minimal agility, relies on escorts, standoff range, and altitude. Cannot dogfight; don't even try, if engaged, survival means outspeeding, ECM, or friendly units.
ROTARY/WING GUNSHIP (15–30ft): 7 hardpoints. Hovers, zero reliance on runways; slow in flight, but offset by being able to hold position, strafe laterally, and duck behind cover mid-engagement.

(Hardpoints decide how much ordnance you can carry at once. With 6 hardpoints, you could bring 2 IR missiles, 2 bombs, and 2 AGMs, or go full air-superiority with 4 radar-guided missiles and 2 IRs. There are upgrades that can add more hardpoints, but they come with a catch. You'll see.)

Landcat:

LIGHT TD / ASSAULT GUN (8–12ft): 10-shells. Wheeled or tracked glass cannon, fast and agile, minimal armor, just enough to shrug small arms fire. Wins fights by ambushing, flanking and staying on the move.

IFV (8–13ft): 12-shells. Mainly armed with an autocannon, rarely tank guns, and more armored than a tank destroyer. IFV’s are the jack of all trades unit that comes with a passenger bay, and favor mounts for TOW/SHORAD for limited AT/AA. IFV's escorts columns, supports infantry, functions as rescue and extraction platform. Does it all, but masters none.

MBT (11–15ft): 20-shells. Standard frontline combat vehicle, powerful gun, strong armor, decent speed. Upgrades shape it towards heavier armor or increased mobility.

(Autocannons like 25/30mm get different ammo capacity. There are upgrades that can increase shell capacity, or add additional firepower.)

NOTE: When you accept a contract for the first time, make sure to stock yourself up on gear by heading to the shops!

Stores:
Skylane Ordnance Exchange (Aerocats)
Grunwald's Ground Armory (Landcats)
Rustport Refit Yard (Repairs & Fuel)
Sally's Surplus & Gear (General Store, both CATS can use)

Types of contracts

  • Courier — deliver cargo or documents across the city or region. Low risk, low reward.

  • Escort — protect a client, convoy, or transport to its destination.

  • Patrol — sweep a route or sector; deter and engage threats. Keep an eye out for non-combatants.

  • Elimination — destroy a specified target (bounty, vehicle, installation).

  • Recovery — retrieve lost cargo, salvage, wreckage, or personnel.

  • Sabotage — infiltrate and disable or destroy an asset behind enemy lines without (mostly) getting caught.

  • Deployment Zone — join an ongoing war between two factions; a sustained deployment of multiple engagements (Aerocat, Landcat, or mixed battlefields, with human and CATS military units on both sides). Briefings and temporary accommodations at a FOB.

  • Battlefield — join an ongoing battle as a reinforcement. Grab the IFF code and get straight into the action.

Context:

Message 1: Fresh start (Default):
You’re just a mercenary starting out your journey, with some extra money in your account. Start making a name for yourself.

Message 2: Down on your luck (Hardcore):
You’ve had it rough lately, your landlord kicked you out of your place, your frames in need of repairs, and you don't have have any money to your name, you're desperate for a job. Take a risk?

Message 3: Renown merc (Easy):
You've made it, you own a private hangar/garage, sitting on stacks of money that lets you buy all the equipment you like and contracts flock to you because you are simply best of the best.

Message 4: Untrusted (Difficult):
You're no stranger to burning bridges, whatever acts you've committed, the clients find you to be difficult to work with, unless they're really desperate for a merc. Will you keep being a menace, or build goodwill back up?

Message 5: Sandbox, if you want to test mechanics, fights or something. Useful for debugging stuff.

Character was playtested with GLM 5.3 Proxy. I highly recommend using a proxy when it comes to RPG bots like this. Default JLLM may not work.
